I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Purdue University in 2007, and completed my internship at Butler University in Indianapolis. I have worked as a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois since 2008.
My training focused on learning how to deliver culturally competent, research-based treatment to individuals across the lifespan.
I specialize in working with children and adults coping with adjustment, anxiety, grief and loss, and mood issues, and in helping individuals navigate stage-of-life challenges (with a specific focus on working with teenage girls and women).
I strongly believe that competent psychological services must center on giving “care for the whole person.” Thus, I pay as much attention to helping my clients develop and harness their strengths so that they may grow as individuals as I do to alleviating their symptoms of sadness, stress, and anxiety.
I use cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques to help clients learn the tools to understand and manage symptoms of anxiety and sadness, and I utilize state-of-the-art attachment research and mindfulness techniques in order to help my clients establish and nurture healthy relationships with themselves and others.
When appropriate, I enjoy incorporating neuropsychological testing into the assessment process, in order to more clearly identify and pinpoint the way in which underlying issues such as AD/HD, learning differences, or issues with executive functioning, memory, or information processing may be impacting an individual's functioning.
I have extensive background and interest in multiculturalism and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and work to be an active ally to my neighbors in the LGBTQ, Black, Muslim, and undocumented communities.
I am an active member of the American Psychological Association, as well as the APA Division for Peace Psychology and the Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice.
